Top 10 Oscar moments

Gone are the days when Oscar was one big elaborate fanfare. With leisurely hosted, scintillating performances, private banquet and long speeches a thing of the past, 'kodak' moments [they are held at the Kodak Theatre now!] are few and too far in between.

But it wasn't such big disappointment after all and all thanks to Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.

Here are some of the best and worst moments from Oscar's 2010:

1. Ben Stiller in a tail: Only he can pull off this ridiculous look! He was there to present ‘Best makeup award’ and he dressed up like a Pandora native (even though Avatar was not nominated in that category). His fictional Na’vi language was hilarious. And his statement, “It was between this and the Nazi uniform but the show seemed a little Hitler-heavy" had everyone in splits.
 2. Pound foolish Sarah Jessica Parker:

Introducing Sarah and Tom to present best costume design, Steve Martin said, "He directed A Single Man and she weighs a single pound". Funny Steve, but today it looked like Sarah’s eloborate hairdo only must have weighed a pound!

3. 'Precious' war: Oprah vs Meryl
Oprah Winfrey proudly pointed out that it's Gabourey Sidibe's first movie and she is already sitting in the same room as Meryl Streep!

Can someone tell us if she was rubbing it in for Meryl or was she expressing honour on Gabourey’s behalf? [Streep had been nominated for an Oscar 16 times but hasn’t won in 28 years.]

4. Un-botoxed moment:

Well, well, well! Look who forgot to go for their regular Botox shots! The still fabulous-at-47 Demi Moore, seemed to have given the worry-line erasing magic potion a miss for this year’s Academy Awards! There’s nothing like ageing gracefully, isn’t it?

. Paranormal Parody:

The spoof on Paranormal Activity featured Alec and Steve together in a bed with a video camera recording them as they slept. Both of them tossed and turned and it ended in Steve getting out of the bed to slap Alec. It had us in splits!
 6.  X-flaming moment:

Before the Oscars, there was much speculation about who would win the Oscar for Best Director - James Cameron for his CGI-enhanced opus Avatar or his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow for her drama The Hurt Locker. We thought the rivalry between the former couple was something fierce when we saw Cameron (jokingly) place his hands around Bigelow’s neck!

But that’s only until we saw him give her a kiss; and later pat her on the back.

7. Sandra Bullock thanking her lover:

And no we’re not talking about her husband. She said Meryl Streep was a "great kisser" with much relish and in her thank you speech referred to Streep as her lover.
 8. Advice, Nike way

"Do it", is what Michael Giacchino [winner of Best Original Score for Up] said. Urging kids and everyone out there that they should just follow their dream and if they want to become artists they should not to listen to anyone who says, "You can’t"

9. Who hates Sandra Bullock?
Steve Martin said: "And there’s the beautiful Sandra Bullock. Who doesn't love Sandra Bullock?"
Alec Baldwin: Well, tonight we may find out. Did we see Carey Mulligan frown? Or was that Helen Mirren?
 10. Women empowerment moment
Katheryn Bigelow became the first-ever woman to win an award in the Best Direct category. There cannot be a bigger achievement than this esp. on a International Women’s day… Kudos to her!
