Motorola’s Android Mobile Phone ‘Milestone’ Enters India

As Indian wireless market is going to enter 3G era very soon, handset makers are furious to capture the market. Just 2 days before LG launched its Android based 3G handset GW620, now Motorola lands in India with its Android 2.1 based Milestone.The Motorola “Milestone” creates a milestone in India being first Android 2.1 OS based smartphone. Motorola describes it as ‘No Compromise’ mobile device. Motorola Milestone is actually Motorola Droid with quad-band GSM/UMTS version.

Motorola had a strong marketshare in India both in CDMA and GSM handset market, out of most were sold along with bundle offer of operators. But last 2 years Motorola had a loss in India and they had to shut down entire handsets manufacturing department in India.

Following the success of Droid in US where market has strong competitors like Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Nexus One, Motorola now rolling out this smartphone in other countries. It is already launched in Germany, Italy, Argentina, UK & Hong Kong and Malaysia. Motorola wants to creates a milestone with the success of Milestone.

Motorola Milestone is powerhouse device with ARM Cortex A8 processor. It is the same processor that powers the iPhone 3GS and Samsung multimedia powerhouse Omnia HD.
