A NICE DAY FOR A LIGHT WEDDING..

It's the day Bill Clinton has been looking forward to for ages, and it was clearly worth the weight... The former US president was told to lose 15lbs by daughter Chelsea in time for her wedding to Marc Mezvinsky.

But Bill obviously forgot to update his wardrobe with smaller clothes.

His jacket and shirt seemed to be hanging off his leaner frame as he walked Chelsea up the aisle. But his 30-year-old daughter looked radiant in her dazzling white dress.

Bill admitted Chelsea had ordered him to diet for her big day. And he lost weight by eating cabbage soup. Wife Hilary wore a fuchsia dress for the wedding at Astor Courts, a riverside estate in Rhinebeck, 90 miles from New York city. In a statement the couple said: "We watched with pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed.


"We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together." The event is said to have cost £2million, with £130,000 spent on security alone.

All roads into Astor Courts were shut and a no-fly zone imposed above. Locals were each given a bottle of wine for their troubles.

Wedding consultant Liz Sellasie said: "In America we don't have royals, so the Clintons and the Kennedys are our equivalent. Chelsea is our Princess Diana."

Celebrities spotted in Rhinebeck for the wedding included actor Ted Danson and fashion designer Vera Wang.
