Lakhisarai encounter: Naxals claim four missing cops in their custody

Patna: After seven policemen were killed in an encounter in Poona-Dih village of Bihar's Lakhisarai district on Monday, Naxals now claim four policemen still missing are in their custody.

Eleven policemen were injured and seven of them lost their lives when they were cornered by the Naxals in the night-long encounter that lasted 12 hours.

The encounter began on Sunday evening when the Naxals attacked a police party searching the area. The search party included personnel from the Bihar Military Police, State Auxiliary Police (SAP) and the CRPF.

Meanwhile, there are reports of angry jawans of Bihar Military Police manhandling the SP of Lakhisarai for calling off search operations in the hills where the encounter took place.


The CRPF had to step in to control the situation. The incident took place near the Kajra police station where forces are camping.
